Lakeland's Nonprofit and Public Service Center will host a free certified training session on Ohio's Sunshine Laws Monday, May 12 from 1- 4:15 p.m. on the college's main campus, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094.
Following the Sunshine Laws training, an optional presentation on records management and retention will be offered from 4:30 –5:30 p.m.
House Bill 9, passed by the 126th Ohio General Assembly, strengthens Ohio’s Sunshine Laws and mandates that all elected officials or their appropriate designees obtain this approved training during each term served in elected office.
The foundation of these laws, which address open meetings and public records, is the principle that citizens are much more likely to have both trust and confidence in governmental institutions that are open to public scrutiny.
Anyone who wishes to attend this free session is welcome to do so.
