To meet the workforce demand for pharmacy technicians, the Lakeland's Continuing Education department is hosting an information session on Wednesday, May 5, from 6 - 8 p.m. in room T-129 on the main campus, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, Ohio, 44094.
Upcoming classes will run Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 11 through August 19 from 6 to 9:30 p.m., or Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, June 14 through August 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The program features 75 hours of training in the fundamentals of a pharmacy technician plus 30 hours of training in the math concepts and calculations used in the field. Topics covered include: drug classes; basic physiology; drug interactions; laboratory practice in making IV medications; and daily pharmacy operations.
Upon completion of the course students will be prepared to sit for the national certification exam.
