Study Business Management at Lakeland Date Posted: Tuesday, January 05, 2010 Topic: Lakeland seeks students for “Business and Culture Study Abroad” course this spring, visits to several European cities scheduled
In response to globalization in the business world, Lakeland’s Business Division is offering “Business and Culture Study Abroad” for spring semester 2010.
The three credit hour course blends classroom learning with international travel to provide a unique global learning experience. Students will gain familiarity with different cultures and broaden their understanding of global business. The in-class portion of the course runs April 3 to May 1, and will prepare the student in order to enrich the travel learning experience.
The 10-day study tour will begin on May 20 with departure to Paris, France, and proceed to Brussels, Belgium, and the German cities of Dusseldorf, Bremen, and Hamburg. Cities were chosen based on their robust business and cultural environments.
In addition to experiencing the culture of the countries by visiting destinations such as the Eiffel Tower and the Musee Du Louvre in Paris, France, Cinquantenaire Park and the Council of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, students will also visit 8 to 10 companies to gain a unique perspective of international business. Companies tentatively scheduled for the visit include: Mitsubishi, Henkel, Siemens, and Beck's. These may be subject to change.
Class tuition for the three credit hour class is $279 (Lake County residents), or $341.85 (other Ohio residents).
The study tour cost is $3,750/person double-occupancy, or $3,900/person single room and includes: transatlantic airfare from/to Cleveland, OH; transportation via charter bus and public transportation related to company visits and cultural events; hotel accommodation at travel class hotels with breakfast; 8-10 visits with companies/organizations in France and Germany; 4-5 cultural activities (Paris, Brussels, Hamburg); 3 group dinners (Paris, Bremen, and Hamburg); and itinerary planning and arrangements.
