In conjunction with National Respiratory Therapy Week (Oct. 25-31, 2009), second-year respiratory therapy student Patti Snyder was recently honored with the Tom Kallstrom scholarship from Fairview Hospital. This is the first time the $500 scholarship has been awarded. It is named for Tom Kallstrom who is an industry leader in asthma management and care and was also the former director at Fairview. He is now the chief operating officer of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).
Snyder’s insightful perspective into the challenges and opportunities of the respiratory profession were reflected in her prize-winning essays. She will be spotlighted in an upcoming issue of the profession’s magazine, the AARC Times.
