Lakeland's Nonprofit and Public Service Center will host a certified training session on Ohio's Sunshine Laws on Thursday, October 15 from 1 – 4:15 p.m. on the college's main campus.
House Bill 9, passed by the 126th Ohio General Assembly, strengthens Ohio’s Sunshine Laws and mandates that all elected officials or their appropriate designees obtain this approved training during each term served in elected office. The foundation of these laws, which address open meetings and public records, is the principle that citizens are much more likely to have both trust and confidence in governmental institutions that are open to public scrutiny.
