Hundreds of students and families expected to attend the sixth annual college fair
Lakeland will host the sixth annual fall kick-off college fair on Sunday, September 27 from 12 to 2 p.m. in the Athletic and Fitness Center, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, OH, 44094. Lakeland is co-sponsoring the free event with Lake Erie College to help connect students and families with higher education options. Over 100 colleges and universities are slated to take part in the fair.
The fair is intended to showcase a variety of options when considering higher education, including two-year and technical schools as well as four-year schools and in and out-of-state opportunities.
“We always suggest that students and their families prepare a few things before the visit because it can be overwhelming to see a room full of college and university reps,” said Robyn Fry, manager of student recruitment at Lakeland.
Fry’s recommendations include:
• Review the list of attending schools to narrow it down
• Prepare a list of questions such as:
What does the admissions process require? How much is tuition and what options are there for financial aid and/or scholarships? What is the ratio of professors to students? What are the student housing options? What is student life like during the week? During the weekend? Do you have virtual tours online? • Pre-print address labels to stick on postcards to eliminate having to re-write name and address at every table
