In the current economic climate, many donors to nonprofit organizations are experiencing rising demands for assistance despite reductions in their own assets. Government funding, however, is still available. The Lakeland Community College Nonprofit and Public Service Center will present a seminar on how nonprofit organizations can be successful in finding and securing government dollars.
“Maximizing Opportunities for Growth: How Nonprofits Can Access Government Funds in Today's Economic Climate” is slated for Thursday, September 17 from 9 – 11 a.m. on the college's main campus. Networking and sign-in begin at 8:30 a.m.
Presenter Lindsay Fello, MSSA, LSW, is the director of State Government Affairs with G2G Consulting, LLC, a firm that has helped businesses and nonprofits raise $22 million in state and federal funding over the past two years.
Fello will discuss the three different areas of government funding: competitive grants, discretionary funds and earmarks. She will share information on the various government departments that are funding nonprofits and explain how to create a strategy to increase the likelihood of success in securing government dollars. Fello will highlight case studies from Ohio nonprofits that have successfully navigated the map of government funding.
Attendees will also learn about the federal and state budget time lines and factors that determine an organization’s success in securing grants.
