The Lakeland Community College Alumni Association announces its inductees to the 2009 Lakeland Alumni Hall of Fame. The award is given to outstanding graduates of the college for making a difference in society because of their experiences and education at Lakeland. This year's inductees are: Robert E. Martin (class of 1971), Lauren Moore, (class of 1986), and Greg D. Taylor (class of 1980).

The induction ceremony takes place on Wednesday, August 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mooreland Mansion on the college campus. The event is $15 per person with a cash bar, and the public is invited.

Lakeland Hall of Fame members will also announce the newly created Alumni Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund at the event.

“This new scholarship is funded directly through the generosity of the members of the Hall of Fame,” said Bob Cahen, executive director of The Lakeland Foundation. “This demonstrates to our students and to the community as a whole that our 'Hall of Famers' have not only succeeded in their careers and in giving back to the community, but also in making a difference right here at Lakeland."

Martin is the director of Parks, Recreation, and Public Facilities for the City of Mentor. Previously, he worked for Cleveland Metroparks for 20 years. Martin recently assisted Lakeland Community College’s Business Department for the creation of a new associate’s degree in Parks & Recreation Management beginning this fall. Martin also serves as the current President of the Ohio University Parents Club of Greater Cleveland, whose mission it is to award scholarships to Ohio University students in need from the northeastern Ohio area.

Moore is the owner/president of Advanced Comprehensive Training Solutions where she provides psychological counseling, including the treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders. Moore has been a charter member of The Lake/Geauga Critical Incident Stress Management Team since 1988 and has served as their clinical director for the past 15 years. Moore is also a member of the executive board of the Lake County Blue Coats which supports families of police and fire departments involved in incidents from the line of duty.

Taylor is the vice president of Corporate Planning, Development, and Communications of The Lubrizol Corporation, where he has worked in various capacities since 1980. As VP he leads the planning processes and directs investor relations and global communications. Taylor’s previous positions at Lubrizol include director and manager of Corporate Planning & Development, business development manager, and manager of investor relations.
