Lakeland Community College is hosting a Histotechnology Information Session on Tuesday, June 23 from 6 -7:30 p.m. in Building H, room H-105. The open house is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
Histotechnicians are in high demand due to a shortage of qualified laboratory employees in Northeast Ohio. Histotechnicians are trained in the preparation and staining of tissue slides for microscopic examination and disease diagnosis by the pathologist.
Lakeland’s program will prepare students for entry level practitioner jobs in hospitals, clinics, doctor's offices, and research facilities. Graduates will be eligible for the national certification examination and transfer to a bachelor’s degree program.
The information session will give interested individuals the opportunity to meet the education coordinator and learn about admissions, prerequisites, curriculum, and elective courses.
