Lakeland Community College will hold its 42nd annual Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Donald A. Nolan, group vice president, Roll Materials, for Avery Dennison.
Over 3,000 friends and family members are expected to attend the college’s ceremony at an outdoor pavilion on campus. A total of 821 students are receiving degrees. The oldest graduate is 60 and the youngest is 16. Over 400 graduates are expected to walk at the ceremony on Saturday.
During the ceremony, the college will present a Distinguished Community Service Award to Louis Kreider of Aqua Ohio. He served as chair for The Lakeland Foundation board for three consecutive years ending in June 2008. During that time he oversaw the conclusion of the Campaign for the Future that raised over $4 million; planning and completion of The Lakeland Foundation strategic plan; and creation of the “Leave a Legacy in Lake County” program aimed at making the community aware of planned giving and encouraged them to "leave a legacy" to any Lake County nonprofit.
The commencement ceremony will be broadcast on the Lakeland Cable Network on Time Warner (former Comcast Cable Channel 98 and Adelphia Cable Channel 21) starting Monday, May 18 through Sunday, June 28 at 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily (Thursdays excluded).
About Donald A. Nolan
Donald A. Nolan is group vice president of Roll Materials for Avery Dennison Corporation, based in Mentor, Ohio. He was appointed to his current position in March 2008. In his role, Nolan is responsible for defining and leading the execution of a comprehensive strategy to grow the market share and returns of Avery Dennison’s global Roll Materials business.
Prior to joining Avery Dennison, Nolan served as senior vice president of global packaging and automotive coatings for Valspar Corporation. Prior to Valspar, he worked at Loctite Corporation, Ashland Chemical Company and General Electric.
Nolan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in materials and metallurgical engineering from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic University, and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.
