Lakeland Community College celebrates Women’s History Month with an art exhibit “From Woman II: Created by women, of women, and about women,” which runs through April 3 in the Lakeland Fine Arts Gallery, building D, first floor.
Declared by Congress in 1987, National Women’s History Month brings awareness to women’s contributions in society. An artist reception and awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 22 from 2 to 5 p.m. The gallery exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public. The reception gives the community the opportunity to meet the artists and discuss their work.
Twenty-two local and regional women artists will exhibit works in a variety of media including: oil, acrylic and encaustic painting, textiles/fiber, sculpture, glass, wood, stone, ceramics and ceramic sculpture, mixed media and jewelry.
