The Gathering Place, one of the area's fastest growing and most successful nonprofit organizations, attributes its dramatic growth and outstanding fundraising success to the shared passion of its founder -- and a board of trustees that is highly engaged in the fundraising process. On Thursday, March 19, representatives of The Gathering Place will join forces with the Foundation Center-Cleveland as the Lakeland Community College Nonprofit and Public Service Center presents the workshop “Your Board and Fundraising.” This session will be held from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. in room H-101 on the college’s campus. Presenters will include David Holmes, Regional Training Coordinator for The Foundation Center as well as panelists from The Gathering Place: Eileen Saffran, founder and executive director; Margie Wheeler, board chair; and Ben Light, director of operations. The Gathering Place is a caring community that supports, educates, and empowers individuals and families touched by cancer. Although it is less than ten years old, it has recently opened its second location. These expert panelists will share how the board and staff of The Gathering Place worked together to achieve the organization's amazing growth. This program is ideal for all board and staff members of nonprofit organizations. The $35 per person fee includes registration, materials, and refreshments.
