Could your organization withstand a leadership crisis?
When a key member of a nonprofit organization's leadership team experiences a sudden, unplanned absence, it not only poses a threat to the services that the agency provides but can also harm the organization's image and standing in the community. To help local nonprofits prepare for a possible vacuum in leadership -- and avoid the damage that such a crisis could cause -- the Nonprofit and Public Service Center at Lakeland Community College is presenting “Emergency Succession Planning for Nonprofit Organizations” on Tuesday, February 3 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Lakeland’s campus in building A, room 2100. Networking and sign-in begin at 8:30 a.m.
Presented by Susan Freimark, M.A., L.P.C., this interactive workshop focuses on preparing for the unplanned absence of an organization’s key leadership team.
Participants will leave the workshop with an emergency succession plan template, worksheets to guide the plan development, and recommendations on key information that should be available in a crisis.
The format of this program includes discussion, break-out groups, and case studies.
Topics include:
• Understanding the ramifications of a leadership crisis in your organization
• Components of a crisis management plan
• Identifying key responsibilities that will keep your organization functioning
• Articulating critical internal and external relationships and information
• Building a crisis leadership team
• Cross training opportunities
• Committing the plan to paper
Freimark’s expertise and distinguished career include providing assistance with organizational and personal change, transition support, and team building.
The fee for this workshop is $45. This workshop is most effective if at least two people from each participating organization attend together.
