About Lakeland’s biotechnology program Established in the fall of 1997, the biotechnology program at Lakeland was the first in Ohio for either two or four-year colleges. The Associate if Applied Science in Bioscience Technology is a science intensive course of study that prepares the graduate for high-caliber laboratory work. Students must participate in an eight week internship during their final semester. Many internships take place in an academic research or biotech industry laboratory.
Lakeland’s program has over 90 percent placement rate into biotech jobs or straight into a bachelor’s degree program. Many of Lakeland’s Associate of Applied Science in Bioscience Technology graduates go on to four-year institutions to pursue a bachelor's degree. A 2+2 articulation agreement is in place with Ursuline College as well as a generous transfer agreement with Case Western Reserve University.
