The Lakeland Community College Nonprofit and Public Service Center presents “Maximizing Opportunities for Growth: Accessing Government Funds for Nonprofits” on Thursday, November 20 from 9 a .m. – 11 a.m. on the main college campus, H Building, Room H1095. The fee is $35. Liz Powell, founder of G2G consulting, inc., a firm that helps businesses and nonprofits maximize opportunities for growth, discusses the three different areas of government funding: • Competitive grants • Discretionary funds • Earmarks Powell will share information on the various government departments that are funding nonprofits and explain how to create a strategy to maximize your opportunity for success in securing government dollars. Attendees will also learn about the federal and state budget timelines and factors that determine an organization's success in securing grants. Case studies from Ohio nonprofits that have successfully navigated the map of government funding will be shared.
