Description: A Local Partner Gallery in the National Gallery of Writing
Are you currently a Lakeland Community College student, alumni, staff, faculty or administrator? Are you proud of a particular piece of writing that you written? Do you wish there was a way for others to read it and enjoy it? This is the opportunity for you. Writers from Lakeland Community College will join thousands of writers throughout the nation to display their compositions in an online gallery of writing called “Lakeland Community College Writers” a Local Partner Gallery in the National Gallery of Writing hosted by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
As a Local Partner Gallery in the National Gallery of Writing, Lakeland Community College Writers will join NCTE in celebrating composition in all its forms and demonstrating how integral writing has become to daily life in the 21st century.
Gallery curator, Joanna Paull, an instructor in the English department as well as the new Writing Across the Curriculum Liaison on Lakeland’s campus, invites and encourages submissions to the Lakeland Community College Writers Gallery from students (present as well as alumni), faculty, staff and administration. This gallery will accept writing from all genres, both formal and informal. This could include writing including but not limited to: academic essays, PowerPoints, YouTube compositions, lab reports, journal entries, blog entries, poetry, or short stories. All entries should be polished & carefully proofread. Each person can submit one piece of writing, so select your strongest example.
In addition to submitting to the local gallery, NCTE’s National Gallery of Writing is also accepting submissions from a broader spectrum of participants. All sorts of writers—students, teachers, parents, grandparents, service and industrial workers, managers, business owners, legislators, retirees, and many more—and all forms of composition from kindergarten picture messages to YouTube videos to short stories, emails, journal entries and more will be featured in the National Gallery of Writing. For more information on this gallery, go to www.galleryofwriting.org.
The National Council of Teachers of English, with 50,000 individual and institutional members worldwide, is dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of English and the language arts at all levels of education. For more information, please visit www.ncte.org.
