Introduction to Fundraising Planning will show you how to analyze your organization's situation and develop a fundraising plan that includes a variety of revenue sources. This session provides an overview of the process of strategically thinking through the components of a fundraising plan. You will learn how to conduct an assets inventory, develop a case statement, identify fundraising partners, and prepare a fundraising plan and calendar. Ohio's Sunshine Laws: House Bill 9 Certified Training Date: Monday, February 1, 2010 Email: cwillen@lakelandcc.edu Time: 1:00-4:15pm Location: Room A2100 Description: The foundation of Ohio’s Sunshine Laws is the principle that citizens are much more likely to have both trust and confidence in governmental institutions that are open to public scrutiny. House Bill 9, passed by the 126th Ohio General Assembly, strengthens these important laws and gives the Office of the Ohio Attorney General primary responsibility for ensuring that public officials across the state understand them.
Among other provisions, HB 9 mandates that all elected officials* or their appropriate designees obtain three hours of public records training via a curriculum approved by the Ohio Attorney General during each term served in elected office. This mandate applies whether the official was appointed or elected to that office.

Join us as we take a look back at the State FY 2010-2011 budget and identify systems that are most under stress as a result of decisions made during the process. Presentations by experts from the Center for Community Solutions will cover strategies for maintaining human service and education spending in a recession, the effects of the 2005 tax changes on state revenues, and challenges for the SFY 2012-2013 state budget.
Presenters will identify the tough decisions facing Ohio decision makers and explain how your organization can become more effective in the advocacy process. Participants will also be given training in strategic advocacy to affect these decisions.

Nonprofit leaders -- and boards of trustees, in particular -- are responsible for maintaining accountability and ensuring the legal and ethical integrity of their organizations. This workshop, which will be presented by a CPA and a former Ohio Assistant Attorney General (Charitable Section), is expressly designed to help board members and nonprofit managers understand how they and their organizations can avoid liability. An array of legal and accounting topics will be covered, including: common reasons nonprofit organizations get sued (and how to prevent that from happening); laws that govern fundraising activities, including gambling and charity benefits; fiduciary and other duties; risk management; record keeping, reporting, and disclosure requirements; campaign and lobbying rules; and unrelated business income.

This workshop will be in the Center for Learning Innovation - Building A, Room 2100 Networking and sign-in begin at 8:30 a.m.
This interactive workshop, which focuses on preparing for the unplanned absence of key members of an organization's leadership team, will be presented by Susan Freimark, M.A., L.P.C., whose distinguished career includes providing assistance with organizational and personal change, transition support, and team building.
Topics that will be covered include:
• Understanding the ramifications of a leadership crisis in your organization
• Components of a crisis management plan
• Identifying key responsibilities that will keep your organization functioning
• Articulating critical internal and external relationships and information
• Building a crisis leadership team

T Room T129 Description: What’s the impact of your work? How do you measure success? What systems do you have in place to determine if you’re on the right track?
The presenter, LaTida Lester, Senior Program Officer, Saint Luke’s Foundation will teach the use of a program "logic model" to help organizations develop the thought process underlying any grant-funded program or project. Participants will learn how to connect program strategies to measurable outcomes, so that they will know if a project is following the right course, and so that they can demonstrate to funders the impact of the project.
This presentation will also showcase real-life examples of grantees who have found the logic model to have broad application for their work.
This class provides the foundation for Session #2, "Telling Your Story by Marketing Your Outcomes," but can also be taken as a stand-alone course.
