Small Business Symposium at Lakeland

May 7, 2008 – Kirtland, Ohio – Lakeland Community College’s Institute for Economic Advancement will host “Road to Success…Learn from the Experts”, a Small Business Symposium on Wednesday, August 13th, 2008 from 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM on the Lakeland campus.

Join us for a special one day event for small businesses. Receive expert advice to help you make informed decisions and move your small business forward toward success. Learn from experienced business owners and experts on such topics as marketing, human resources, and finance. Small businesses from all industries can get advice and answers to all their questions - whether it is developing a business plan or accessing capital. Get the tools and direction you need to get your small business on the road to success!

This unique event is presented by the Lakeland Institute for Economic Advancement at Lakeland Community College in partnership with the Lake County Economic Development Center (Lake County Port Authority), Mentor Economic Assistance Corporation (MEACO) and the Greater Cleveland Small Business Administration.

Kirtland, OH - February 6, 2008 – Patricia Hoyt, Executive Director of the Lakeland Institute for Economic Advancement has been invited to speak as part of a panel at LERN’s Best Practices Conference - "Unlocking the Door to Success", April 28th-30th, 2008 in Tucson, AR.

The conference features the latest information from leading practitioners in successful lifelong learning programs and focuses on the three major adaptations lifelong learning programs must make in order to survive and thrive in today’s environment:

• Lifelong Learning programs must operate like a business.
• Lifelong Learning programs must be customer focused and market driven.
• Lifelong Learning programs need to be data-driven.
